Why we started this blog

We are the Nickel-Nguys, Kendra, Mary, and Bear. Nguy is pronounced "way."  We have been married for two wonderful years. We have come to an exciting crossroads in our lives. Due to changes in jobs and failed housing bids, we find ourselves able to take 4 months off to travel.  We are leaving all of our worldly possessions in storage and with friends. We will spend mid-September through the end of December 2014 visiting new places, seeing family and friends, and creating life long memories.

Bear will be enjoying his time with his buddies in Seattle. He is very excited for his time with some of his favorite people and we are very thankful to a handful of our good friends who have been so kind to take Bear into their homes.

We feel very blessed to be able to take this time to build memories and are very grateful for the support of our family and friends who are helping us make this trip possible. While we travel we are going to try to soak up this unique opportunity, and we won't be easily available by phone. We decided the best way to share our adventures with our family and friends is through a blog. We plan to update this blog as often as we can as we move from place to place.

We begin our journey on September 10, 2014 when we fly from Seattle to California. From San Fransisco, we will leave to explore the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand. We plan  to be back in Seattle at the beginning of 2015.
